Never know

You never know what you can accomplish if you try.

Don’t give up, when the flight is delayed or your luggage lost,

keep on. Bring something to occupy your time.

Take care of yourself and you will reach your final destination.

As a Woman

As a woman I know you should make time for yourself, but with all the things you have to juggle in your life, there doesn’t seem to be time. How about 15 minutes to relieve stress, clear you mind and give you a better outlook on life? Need comfortable chair, heating pad, timer, foot stool, and pillows. As the heat relaxes your muscles, the quiet welcoming dark, relaxes your mind.

1.  Have your own special place, glider rocker
with footstool, table and lamp
2. Look younger-smile and think happy thoughts
3.  Eat breakfast.  Break   fast.
4.  Think outside the box.
5.  Recliners
6. Enjoy your coffee.
7.  Be a porch monkey and watch the world go by.
8. Leisure stroll to enjoy nature, watch ants, listen to
birds, and feel wind.
9. Brisk walk to get blood flowing – walking shoes
10. Try things to see what you don’t like.
11. Diet – not good if it doesn’t suit your life style
and you can’t live with it.
        Must be a lifestyle change.
12. Snack is not a dirty word. What you eat during the
snack is what adds the pounds.

Coffee with Sis

After my mother died, I called her sister every

Saturday to check in on her.

She said, “Wait till I get my coffee and go to the porch,”

thus begun a long season of having coffee with Sis.

Sis is gone now but I miss our coffee time.

Glad you are raising a cup to us. Thanks,

Asking for Help

            Asking for Help
It is hard enough for me to ask for help when I know someone and much harder when I don’t know a person. Maybe it is the other way around. If you don’t know someone, they offer help out of the kindness of their heart. If you know the person, you may feel if you ask, there will be string attached.
I fell crossing the street. As I lay on the concrete drive, “How am I going to get up?” crossed my mind. As if to an answered prayer, three workers who were part of the HOA maintenance crew came to my rescue. From my vantage point, all I could see were work boots. Not only did they help me get up, they offer to see that I got medical treatment and helped me get in back inside. Where I lived in the country, I could have lay there for days before anyone noticed that I needed help. My husband’s hearing is bad and he kept the TV so loud that he could not hear it thunder much less a cry for help.

I am so thankful for all those good people out there who get involved and help with no other agenda. People are good and if you give them a chance… be amazed at what happens. My hardest problem is asking for help. I want to be considered independent. Guess my fall showed me that I am vulnerable and need assistance at times. Why am I so afraid to ask for help has crossed my mind? All my life I have been told to work. OK but what has that to do with asking for help? Dad just told us to do things without showing us how. We figured it out on our own. Asking for help is a sign of weakness. I discovered that it is more than that. It shows that we need each other and when you can help, kudos to both of you.

HOPE

         HOPE

To wait with expectation

I wait for the Lord,

My soul waits,

And in His word I do hope.

Hope is in the Lord

Something More

It’s that gnawing feeling that there has to be something more. That something more is you. You don’t know where to start to find it, whatever ‘it’ is, and everything you have done in the past to feed that hunger has not worked, then you need to say, I am ready to Reclaim Me. Maybe I can give you a few pointers to help you on this adventure to discover who you are. This is a journey, not a destination because you are constantly changing and that’s what makes life exciting.   I knew I was lost because I had this sensation that something was missing. It was that emptiness that I had been trying to feed with food to no avail.

Inward Renewal

Inward Renewal of the Mind

exercise   I want to offer encouragement as you battle to find your identity

and I want to offer you hope that you are not in this ordeal alone.

This is a journey you must take alone but you will not be sent off unprepared.

Go Through

Am reminded that ever so often you have to go through and

reclaim your life and make sure you are on track. It's not a one time thing.

I have learned two things.

First if you want your life to be more enjoyable,

you must add more of the things that bring you joy.

Second, you can't add something without taking something out,

and that is the rub.

Biggest Block

The biggest block to getting started on something you dream of doing is often in your own head.

You must give yourself permission to begin. First decide what you want, be specific and

each morning before you rise take a few minutes to boost your will power.

You can accomplish anything you set your mind on but first you must convince yourself that you can.

Forget all those who spout their negative garbage. Pick a path and journey forth.

If you discover it is the wrong path, it is not written in stone so choose another course

keep in mind the end goal is the fulfillment of your dream.

Don’t take a bite out of tomorrow

It may turn out to be

                                                                    More than you can chew.

Savor this thought

1.  Getting up a few minutes earlier to have time alone to start the day.
2.  A place for you to relax that is your private sanctuary.
3.  Take five minutes and do nothing.
4.  It is OK for you to take time for yourself.

5.  Take care of you so you can take care of others.

Alike

My granddaughter only wears purple and pink. She likes sparkles on the pockets of her jeans

and will wear silver or gold if it suits her taste. She refuses to try anything else. Sounds a lot like me.

I am set in my ways and do not wish to try anything else. Shame on me.

Who knows what could befall me if I would try on something blue, you might note that

I have blue eyes! What else am I missing if I wish to stay in that rut I have created, life can be exciting if you

look for the choices that take you out of your comfort zone and lead you into a word of possibilities.

Treat Yourself

Treat yourself special today.

It might be lingering over morning coffee

or feeling the breeze on your face.

Be thankful for the small things as they

come along a lot more often than big blessings.

Sunburn

Sunburn

For those who don’t know, I am a natural red head.

I have the pictures to prove it.

Now red heads are notorious for burning when out in the sun to long.

I have never in my life sunbathed, really.

That is not to say I have never experienced sunburn.

All my life, my father drove a pickup.

Some of us rode on the back of the truck at any given time.

I have been burnt, wind blown, rained on and frozen.

Sleep walking in a moving vehicle can be hazardous;

especially if you are in the back of a pickup.

Just ask my brother, G L.

Although he was asleep and probably doesn’t remember.

But I digress.

My college roommate would rather lather herself with a concoction

of baby oil and iodine to tan.

My brother was somewhere in Africa and tried the same things.

His legs peeled. In case you did not know,

it is a court martial offense to be so stupid to burn.

Good thing he was on vacation and had time to heal before reporting back to duty.

If you have never seen my brother, let me tell you that his

ears stick out. To protect the ears from the sun,

the military issued berets. You heard me, berets.

How is that for smart protection from the sun!

The worse burn I ever got was swimming at Heber Springs.

It was the Fourth of July.
After the fever went down, I shed three layers of skin.

NEVER made that mistake again.

Working for Dad one summer, I spent hours in the car.

Sum beaming through the windshield burnt the front

of my legs, my arms and my face.

Then bad went to worse; I broke out in freckles.

I had never had freckles until then.

In this day and age when you are reminded to put sunscreen

on your lips, don’t forget some other vulnerable places:

tops of your ears

back of your legs

the bend of your knees (imagine not being able to bend your leg)

and stay in the shade when the sky is overcast.

The water was freezing. (Its not called spring for nothing.)

Day was overcast and suffocatingly hot.

I stood in or near the water most of the day.

Results: water blisters.

Near

My husband has told me he has experienced near death experiences twice.

Once he nearly drowned and saw his whole life flash before his eyes in a freeze frame sort of way. He had been swimming and decided it would be funny to duck a girl. She latched on an took him to the bottom with her. You would have thought that he learned from the experience but he proceeded to do the same thing again with the same results.

Talking about learning from experience, some of us are slow.

I was having my back worked on when my blood pressure dropped. I went through the tunnel to discover a beautiful garden full of sunshine and flowers with butterflies flitting around. Everything was bathed in a golden light and then the light turned off and I came back.

Best Way

The best way to get quality time with those special
to you is schedule them in.
Make a date with your significant other.
It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate,
Try finger food on the coffee table while you sit on the floor.
